Fruit Filled Waffle Cone

We love this creative year round treat. Just fill medium sized waffle cones with the suggested fruit (or your preferred fruits since the skies the limit on what fruits you fill the cones with). We enjoy them with some fresh whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grapes
  • 1 cup berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
  • 1 cup small strawberries (slices or mashed*)
  • 1 cup cantaloupe, cubed or sliced
  • 1 cup peaches, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh whipped cream or reduced fat whipped topping
  • 8 Waffle cones
  • Optional:
  • Top with fresh whipped cream, frozen yogurt or ice cream
  • Garnish with fresh mint and small berries.
  • OR - add small amounts of mini marshmallows, chocolate chips or finely chopped nuts.
  • ALTERNATE PREPARATION
  • Mashed strawberries
  • 2 tsp. finely chopped crystallized ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean and prep all fruits
  2. add 1/4 cup of fruit to each waffle cone.
  3. Serve with fresh whipping cream, if desired.
  4. Enjoy!
  5. Serve Immediately
  6. Note: Dry the fruit well to prevent the cones from getting soggy.
  7. ALTERNATIVE PREPARATION
  8. In a small bowl, combine the fruit
  9. In another bowl, combine the *mashed strawberries, ginger and cinnamon.
  10. Fold in whipped topping.
  11. Fill each waffle cone with 1/4 cup fruit mixture; top with 2 tablespoons whipped topping mixture. Repeat layers. End with whipped topping mixture.
